The Waste World Cup tournament was held last week (Friday 1st July) with 41 mixed teams 6 a-side from all over the waste industry coming out for a sunny day of football. The Wastepack team are proud to have won the Shard trophy on their first ever entry to the competition. It was a tense finale, as the last match came down to penalties.
It was an especially early start for those travelling across the country to get to Beaconsfield Rugby Club, who kindly hosted the event with letsrecycle.com.
After a quick briefing, kick off began for the morning group stages, with teams finding their feet for the games ahead. Football continued into the afternoon where teams were filtered into a waterfall knockout tournament. What place you finish in your group determines which trophy each team was in with a chance of winning.
All in all it was a great day of team building for industry with everyone in high spirits. The Wastepack team were delighted to bring home the Shard trophy. Team representatives on the pitch included: Martyn, Bill, William, Adele, Laurence, Darci, Zoë, JJ, Emily and Adrian.
